Parent’s Of Teens (POT)

Last Wednesday night we held our first Parent’s Of Teens (POT) meeting. It was a wonderful time of sharing and planning. We have a great group of teenagers and need to ensure that we develop them into Christian Adults that are ready for the future. Our parents understand that our Youth Ministry should maintain a proper balance of the five purposes of the Church (Discipleship, Evangelism, Fellowship, Ministry, and Worship). The excitement was evident as we began our planning process. As a start, we scheduled two events.

The first event scheduled is a Fellowship event. On Friday night, May 22nd, we will be meeting at Rachel and Raymond Sylvestre’s house for a great night of fun. The fellowship will begin at 6:00 pm and end at 10. Snacks, games, and a bonfire ensure lots of excitement. Our youth are encouraged to invite their friends. Adults who enjoy being around our youth are also strongly encouraged to come.

Second, POT has scheduled another exciting fellowship for the month of June. I am so excited about this event because it combines two different purposes. Our event will begin at the Church on Saturday, June 20th, at 9am. This is the time of our regularly scheduled Ministry Projects. As a Church, we will be working together to complete our scheduled projects. Then, at about Noon, we will be heading to Montreat! I will be leading a hike in Montreat while others prepare lunch and enjoy the Montreat Park. After the hike (I will make sure some youth do not return from the hike – for a nominal fee), we will all spend time together eating and playing in the water at the Park. No ending time is set. We might even walk down to the Montreat field and play some games. All are invited.

Once again, our POTs are excited about the future of our Church and seeing our youth develop into strong Christian Men and Women. We will be meeting monthly to schedule future events.

Please continue to pray for our youth in these difficult times.

Pastor David
